Mohammed attends Meydan grand opening

Sheikh Mohammed watches the opening race

UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum attended the opening of the iconic Meydan Racecourse today ? the world's largest racing venue in terms of area.

Sheikh Mohammed accompanied by Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Deputy Ruler and Minister of Finance Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the chairman and members of the Meydan Board, toured the various facilities at the state-of-the-art sporting arena.

The opening meeting saw the launch of the 2010 Dubai International Racing Carnival, which will continue until March 27th, the date of the US$ 10 million Dubai World Cup.

Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chief Executive of Emirates Group Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of Al Shabab Club Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, other sheikhs and senior officials were also present at the opening meeting.
