Mohammed's Al Sha'Afar wins Best Conditioned Horse
Sixteen-year-old Rashed Saeed Al Kamda won the Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan Al Maktoum Challenge CEI Two-Star ride, which was organised by Emirates International Endurance Racing, at Dubai Endurance City yesterday.
The young rider has won two of the three senior rides held so far in the 2002-03 season and his win yesterday came amidst a strong field of top stars.
General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Minister of Defence, finished fifth. However, Sheikh Mohammed's horse, Al Sha'Afar, won the "Best Conditioned Horse" award.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum (retired between third and fourth stages), Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum (eliminated-gate 3), and Sheikh Ahmed bin Humaid Al Nuaimi (retired at gate 4) were some of the top riders who did not complete the 120-km distance.
The ride was witnessed by Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance and Industry, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Lands and Properties Department.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum distributed the prizes to the winners.
