Mohammed issues law, decision, decrees

In his capacity as the Ruler of Dubai, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has issued amendments to some provisions of Law No.8 of 1992 concerning the public prosecution.

As per the amendments, the text of article 10 is substituted with new wording stipulating that new appointments to the public prosecution will commence at the assistant level.

Sheikh Mohammed also issued a decision regarding financial assurances that should be provided by entities wishing to benefit from the Dubai Financial Support Fund. Such guarantees include, but are not limited to, transferable property, stocks and other liquid assets.

The decision is effective from July 31, 2009.

Sheikh Mohammed also issued a decree transferring the ownership of land and property to the Dubai Financial Support Fund. The decree specifies that all rights, obligations and responsibilities of these lands will be assumed by the fund from the date of the decree's implementation. 

The Department of Lands in cooperation with Dubai Municipality and other related departments shall implement this decree as of August 4, 2009.

Two separate decrees issued by Sheikh Mohammed form the boards of directors of the Dubai Financial Support Fund and the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).

The chairman of the fund's board will be Abdul Rahman Saleh Al Saleh, with Abdul Aziz Rahma Al Muhairi as vice chairman, and a membership of Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Majid Saif Al Ghurair and Dr. Riyadh Mohammed Khalfan Belhaul. The term of office shall be three years, beginning on August 4, 2009.

Also with a tenure of three years, DEWA's new board of directors will be chaired by Mattar Humaid Al Tayer, with a membership of Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Hilal Khalfan bin Dhaher, Abdullah Al Hashemi, Khalfan Ahmed Hareb, Majid Hamad Al Shamsi, Obeid Saeed Mishar, Saeed Mohammed Al Shared and Nabeel Abdul Rahman Aref.
