Press conference after Wadi Rum Masters Ride
The following is a translation of the press conference held after the CEI Wadi Rum Masters Ride in Jordan. Sheikh Mohammed's son Sheikh Hamdan won the ride.
Sheikh Mohammed: I thank the Jordanian people. We were happy to participate and see our brothers. This was a great achievement for us.
Press: What are your views about the technical side of this year's race?
Sheikh Mohammed: There was a great improvement in the organization of the race, as well as the standard of the riders. Allah willing, we wish them further progress in the future.
Press: We would like to wish Your Highness good luck.
Sheikh Mohammed: Thank you and please forgive us if you are tired of us, we saw you during the race with your faces full of dust.
Press: Your Highness, three of your sons have won the last three major races in which they have participated, Sheikh Ahmed won the world championship, Sheikh Rashid won the Al Ahram Al Araby Endurance Ride and today, Sheikh Hamdan has been crowned Wadi Rum endurance champion. The father has led the sons to victory. What are your comments on their achievements, as a father and as a rider?
Sheikh Mohammed: Frankly, this is their hobby and they have gained experience from each race and worked to become champions. Not anyone who rides horses can be a champion; you have to know how to deal with the horse on such rough and trying trails.
Press: What is your opinion of the Jordanian riders and the other Arab riders who participated in the race?
Sheikh Mohammed: They are good brothers and they are progressing well. Many of them performed well in the race and they achieved good results, thank Allah.
